A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of a weekend away at the beach, which is a must every now and again. While visiting my beach of choice, I stumbled across the Jetty Food Store and cafe. Seeing the food and beverages from the window, I couldn’t help but take a look inside.
Located in Normanville, quite aptly right near the coast, the Jetty Food Store specialises in local produce, organic and gourmet foods and beverages. The venue’s ambiance is such that it comes across as a seaside version of your favourite inner city cafe. It would be very easy to while away an afternoon here, or perhaps visit after a morning walk along the shore.
|White Chocolate and Pecan Tart: A delightful treat.|
My first visit resulted in the purchase of a white chocolate and pecan tart and a latte. Put simply, the tart was a delight. Featuring a crisp outer crust and a soft and warming centre that had just enough crunch courtesy of the pecans, it was the ideal way to treat myself after a long walk on the beach. Also, judging by the queue in front of me, I was far from alone in that train of thought.
As for the coffee, this isn’t one you would want to have too late, or you’re likely to find getting to sleep quite the task afterward. It possessed a full and powerful flavour and I’d happily recommend this beverage to the coffee lovers among us. However, while my coffee packed a caffeine punch, I’m sure the staff will gladly accommodate all tastes if that isn’t exactly your thing.
|Coconut Ball: Perfectly bite sized.|
On the topic of staff, the service was always friendly helpful. The staff would offer suggestions and generally provided some extra information on their products. While many would say this should be expected, the way in which it was undertaken added to the overall experience.
Furthermore, if you would like to pick up some items while visiting, the Jetty Food Store offers just that – food. But not just any food, fresh local produce that is sure to add to any dish you make at home.
All in all, the Jetty Food Store was one of my highlights of a weekend away at the beach. With its laid back vibe, this seaside cafe and food store makes an ideal spot to relax and enjoy some downtime.
If you’re interested in visiting, take a look at their website for more information.
Anyway, that’s all from me, enjoy!
A little something extra: On my second visit to the Store I opted for a coconut ball. Paired with a cappuccino, it was that little something extra with my afternoon caffeine hit.
