I was given the chance to see the latest in the Transformers franchise, Age of Extinction, courtesy of Paramount Pictures Australia.
The film is a fully fledged blockbuster, complete with the spectacular special effects that have come to be one of the hallmarks of the franchise. It moves at a rollicking pace, taking viewers from the Arctic to Texas and Beijing, all while keeping the number of thrilling action sequences ticking over.
When cash-strapped mechanic and inventor Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg) makes the purchase of a lifetime ($150 USD for Optimus Prime, no less) he, his daughter Tessa (Nicola Peltz) and her (not-so-secret-anymore) boyfriend Shane (Jack Reynor) find themselves fighting not only for their lives but also to save the planet.
My recommendation would be to go into this movie with the right expectations – that is, be prepared for an alien guns blazing, fast (robot) car chase film that will appeal to anyone seeking out a big-title blockbuster.
That’s all from me, enjoy!
